These General Conditions apply to all applicants (“you”) who use the services of GapYear World to live and work abroad.
By submitting an application to one of our vacancies, you automatically agree to these General Conditions and the processing of your data as described below.

GapYear World is responsible for processing your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
When you apply for a job through GapYear World, we may process the following data:
Full name, email address, phone number
CV/resume, diplomas, work history, job preferences
Nationality, date of birth, and availability
Other information provided voluntarily by you (e.g. cover letter, photo)
We do not process special or sensitive categories of personal data unless you explicitly provide them and consent to their use.
Your personal data is processed to:
Match you with suitable job opportunities abroad
Share your CV and details with recruitment partners and employers
Contact you by phone, email, or WhatsApp about applications or new opportunities
Improve our services and website (via anonymized analytics and cookies)
Fulfill legal obligations where required
GapYear World shares your data with:
Recruitment partners and employers – only to connect you with job opportunities
Service providers such as Google Analytics (anonymized usage data)
We do not sell your data. Data is only shared with trusted partners under GDPR-compliant agreements.
We keep your personal data for a maximum of 12 months after your last application, unless you give consent to keep it longer (for future opportunities). You may request deletion at any time.
You have the right to:
Access your data
Correct or update your data
Request deletion of your data
Restrict or object to processing
Withdraw consent
Request data portability
You can exercise these rights by contacting us at simon@gapyear.world. Requests will be answered within 1 month (extendable by 2 months in complex cases).
If authorities require personal data in the context of law enforcement or legal procedures, GapYear World may provide such data upon a valid and reasoned request.
You may receive emails or messages from us about job opportunities abroad. If you no longer wish to receive these, you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing simon@gapyear.world.
Your data will never be shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
GapYear World takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data from misuse, loss, or unauthorized access.
These terms are governed by Dutch law. In case of disputes, the courts in the Netherlands have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory legal exceptions apply.
